True but not nearly as much as they have since other MMO's came out. EQ simply laid the ground work for the real complaining.

EQ did usher in a new wave of commode-based gaming. Even the Carmack got in on it.

I have to disagree. Ultima Online was the first MMORPG to foster complaining, imho.

I never played it, but Meridian 59 may have come before UO in the origins of MMO complaining. Or maybe the Meridians were uncomplaining souls.

Complaining about things that aren't classic is not classic. No one did that during classic.
One of the clauses in the Terms & Conditions for the original EQ forums was that people agreed to write a complaining post every six posts. I remember my own first complaining post being about how EQ was so addictive, limiting my social circle severely, that I only got to bed women who also played EQ. My mid-passion cries of "Who's your guildmaster? Who's your guildmaster?" began to disturb even me.
