No, just because no one ever reported you on live / never been seen by GMs on live, does not mean that your name was not against the policy, wich if you had the same name, 100% was against the policy ...
I was Veldamirx Iz^Drunk... I had a GM rename me to Veldamirx Iz^Kinki. No one reported is right. The GM's didn't care as much as you think, unless someone reported it. I heard of very few name changes that weren't a result of a blatantly offensive name, or an in game arguement that resulted in petitions being thrown around.

I created my long time main on Test Server in about 2003; named him Ancient, which was intended to be an allusion to Ancient Pistol, a character in Henry V.

I logged in for the first time, and about 20 minutes later a GM told me my name was not allowed and changed it to Anciente (after some discussion). I'm pretty sure that was not the result of a petition, and I'm pretty sure it was not offensive; it just violated the letter of the naming conventions at the time.

So somewhere, sometime - there were GMs who cared (even though I disagreed with them).

Crazy [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I stand corrected... I guess some where Gm's did care... Not on Nameless when I got the name change... lol :/

I think it was probably fairly arbitrary, and in 90% of the cases I think the name changes were fair.
