Simple answer is that yes we need "gun control". But you do not do this by simply banning a style of firearm. A modern sport rifle (ar) is not the problem. I do agree that we need to tighten up the following:

Any felon cought with a firearm should be an automatic prison sentence with no parole.
ban 100rd magazines (30 rounds can be used for sport - 100 rounds is overboard and every gun owner knows it)
No gun trades or purchases without a background check - even with private sales it should be a felony if not called in.

dont make it harder for the good guy to get a firearm - make it harder for the BG (badguy)
