First night is in the books. My dark elf enchanter' Malakhai, made it to level 3. I couldnt believe I lost my first fight one on one with an even conn snake. Sure is a different world than current live eq. I also had to relearn some lessons. Like typing /l BEFORE you die. Also, only buy the spells you absolutely need, lest you run out of food heh. Good to be back.

Aha, it's bittersweet isn't it :P I quit eq shortly after LDON, started playing a couple months before luclin.. started playing WoW in it's closed beta in august of 04, and played for almost 8 consecutive years..t aking 1 or 2 two to six month breaks in 8 years.. and after going back to this I feel like I'm mentally handicapped :P

I decided to try P99 with a friend. This friend was a WoW veteran of several years and never played another MMORPG. Over lunch, I'd tell tales of the good old days when our characters walked uphill both ways through 6 feet of snow to exchange our silver for plat at the bank. After traveling naked from the bank to the middle of a dungeon on a corpse recovery. (Corpse recovery? What the hell?) This friend had an awesome time starting out. She took so long figuring out what's what in kelethin that she ran out of food. Then she kept dying to mobs because she was starving, and couldn't get the money she needed for food, much less spells or gear. She also lost a corpse because she had no clue where that orc killed her in Gfay. After she eventually overcame that hurdle, I arrived via boat with a set of studded that I crafted, which made life a bit easier. Her druid is now level 14, so she's thrilled to have a decent DoT, SoW, and Bind. My friend actually likes the fact that EQ is pretty hardcore, and doesn't hold your hand. It's a lot harder to have a successful evening if your group isn't coordinated. Aggro and crowd management actually means something in this game. I'm finding that there are a lot of teeny details I didn't notice before, like the fact that almost anything you loot can be used for something, whether it be a tradeskill or a ridiculously useless quest. There's so much subtle content in this game. You might see the pair of us running around. (I'm a 16 DE Shadowknight.) I think we'll be headed to Highpass soon. Be sure to say "Hi" to Vellatri and Velivia. - Vellatri, Knight of the Temple of the Dead | |||
