Halflings all the way.
1) Cheerful and laid-back race in a world full of horrible monsters. Everyone else is off righteously fighting the great evil/good/whatever; they just want to offer you a freshly-baked pie. 2) Great town and town music. 3) Surprisingly good warrior stats (very high DEX, for one thing) so you can savor the feeling of tanking an enormous giant/dragon/god as a tiny half-man. 4) Hairy feet. 5) They have a mayor instead of a king, and their police force wear masks and hats! Honestly I don't see how anyone could vote differently.
