Be aware that clerics are dependant on others to group with for xp. Basically forget about soloing. (Yes I know it is possible on specific mobs... slowly but not really worth it). getting groups is pretty easy though, if they are there to get.
Also clerics have nothing to help them get around safely. No sow (run faster), no invisibility. I would not recommend one for your first character. | ||

Melee classes are what I would suggest. Warrior, Paladin, Shadow Knight, and even Ranger would be the best way to start learning the game imo. They allow the most room for error and targeting something and pressing q (auto attack) is the easiest way. Magician wouldn't be so bad either once you get to level 4 and have a pet to help you out. Thinking back to my own experiences when I started.
