There was no GM support in those locations (or limited support) because they didn't want raiding guilds to make a hack guide to go explore stuff and get info.

I intend on keeping the keys non-soulbound until they were patched and fixed. It adds a lot to the danger element. And that is a key to the risk vs reward for those zones, especially VP. As that key did not become soulbound until much, MUCH later.

I vaguely remember the original 'official' warning in regard to Veeshan's peak, but I have been unable to find the exact quote anywhere; it did, however, specifically say that there would be no gm assistance at all in regard to VP, and that was right from the release of the expansion.

What you say here may be accurate (and perhaps the 'real' reason), but what they stressed at the time was that it was a very, very difficult zone and that if you got into trouble (e.g. if your raid wiped and everyone's corpse was stuck in there) that they were not going to help you.

I remember thinking at the time that they just really wanted to highlight the toughness of the zone and both wanted to enhance the level of difficulty by ensuring that their would be no chance of rescue, and also probably wanted to avoid any extensive hassles in trying to sort out what actually happened when the inevitable problems occurred.

*Keyed Dungeons*

The key for Charasis (Howling Stones) is now NODROP per the patch
message from a couple of weeks ago. Furthermore, when your character
dies, keys for Charasis, Sebilis, and Veeshan's Peak, will no longer
remain with your corpse, but will instead return with your character to
its bind point. We made this change to reduce the difficulty and
corpse-loss potential of these zones, and eliminate the need to do the
key quests multiple times.
