I don't need you to explain EQ pvp to me, I've played it. you're just talking about some video whereas I am giving actual reasons EQ takes minimal skill. I'm just waiting for someone to chime in with "LOL YOU THINK WOW TAKES SKILL?" because apparently people think the only 2 games in existence are the game they play and WoW.

It was exactly what I said it was, and you are 100% wrong. I played on VZTZ more than anyone whose names don't rhyme with Suckle or Mexx.

The classic EQ resist system allowed you to become effectively immune to CC, stuns, magic-based nukes, etc. The gap between a melee with 50 MR and a melee with 110 MR was massive, and the fact that the curve allowed you to hit over 95% resistance to anything made it imbalanced to the point where several classes were rendered either useless or underpowered against anyone with moderate gear (Enchanters, Clerics, Rangers).

That same gap was less glaring on VZTZ, because the resist curve was smarter. The most you could flat-out resist a spell was in the 80's (rather than near-100%). Partial resists were frequent on CC spells. This prevented situations like someone landing an Ensnare that lasts for 15 minutes. In classic it was near impossible to land anyway, but when you did land it, it was stupidly overpowered. Effectively capping resists around 85-90% (instead of 95-99%) also meant that there's not quite as much of a gear advantage to be had.

Remember that guy on TZ (you don't, but let's pretend you do) during Velious who was fucking horrible at the game, but unkillable because he was in the top raid guild and had all of those sparkly Uber Raid Items he got from playing 80 hours a week?

Yeah - we don't want that this time around. Let's not do that.

Verant/Sony never got resists right and they had years and companies behind them. Hell after verant was gone all the new races defaulted to human team and were never changed, cats, frogs, whatever, all human.

Frogs are short, there was a short team, short team could have used shaman: boom decision made in 5 seconds. Instead they stayed human, that's how much attention Sony gave pvp team servers.

If you're QQing about this isn't classic you didn't play. Well functioning resist code was never classic. At a certain level of MR you resisted everything, then it would get fixed and you would resist nothing, and repeat.

On live, you never had a reason to have 120mr in pvp. You would want to sacrifice those jacinth rings for diamond etc. Even with tash, the chance of being rooted/snared/stunned was basically nonexistant. 85% resist to root at 120 would still be a joke. On live, about 70mr would buy you 85%.
I thought you said 50mr was root/snare immunity but here Destin says 70mr = 85%. Looks like your classic resist numbers change from day to day.

or some guy that has the minimal knowledge you need to have for eq pvp vs someone that has probably never pvped in eq before. that doesn't make it rocket science.

Kunark is not just "more end game content." I'm sure by taking things out of context to make a valid fictitious point, you might well win that fictitious argument.

If I was arguing in favor of simply "more end game content", I'd contend even that would help over the present stagnation. Theres 4 end game targets for 2 and a half end game guilds. All people do these days on the forums is paint a picture of end game being completely "zerged" (dominated) and unobtainable for everyone else whose not Nihilum (portrayed through numerous forms of whining and waling and flaming). If hate and sky were to open, it would offer more targets and opportunities for everyone.

chess takes years and years to master, if you ever even master it at all. eq pvp takes maybe a couple days at most? awful comparison.

Once again, you lie. Never said 50mr was snare immunity. 85% at 70mr would still be less than half of what it requires to obtain the same here... samdumb down again. For all your researching old posts, you'd think you could at least find this alleged quote.

Of course, you can't.

If you can't ever be anything in game, I guess troll the forums. Seems to be the standard MO of a lot of people in this community.
