Hi,

I had the same problem running with windows 7 and using the latest version of Daemon Tools did the trick however I am still having another related issue so figured I would post here rather than add another thread.

Windows 7 won't allow the copying of files directly to the Everquest folder in program files. I have managed to get most of the changes made by going into notepad as administrator and copying and pasting the text from the downloads but I am having a problem with the spells-us.txt folder.

When I extract the spells-us zip file the text looks like this;

I copied and pasted the above although it did not look anything like the file it was replacing but once I logged into the game it tells me that my level 1 spell is level 255 and uses 1hb?

Do you know how I can fix this?

Thanks

@ Lukan

You shouldn't be having any trouble copying, deleting or moving files in the EverQuest program folder in Windows 7, unless, possibly, you're not logged in as Administrator and all non-admin users have been denied the right to install or remove programs.

Either log out and log back in under an Administrator account to make the changes, or if you don't want to do that this page tells you how to run the Windows File Explorer with Admin privileges.

Once you do that, you should be able to copy and replace files in the EverQuest folder. And I would forget about copying text into and out of files unless you absolutely have to; you're just liable to mess something up!

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the advice.

Turns out that I had admin access but I needed to make myself the owner of the SONY folder in order to be allowed to modify it. Thankfully this fixed my problems and I am on my way back to EQ.
