I think yellow text revealing location would lead to too much griefing, especially people on corpse runs when someone sees them die in a certain zone and can predict (if a non binder class) how they will be getting back to their corpse.

Maybe try it out for a month or so. Advertise it on the website and what-not. See if it works in increasing the playerbase.
BUT, I feel that anything implemented that can be harmful to the social system within the game is a bad idea. Killing the need to socialize with others (which this would do, people currently TALK to eachother now when something is going down) is what destroyed EQ live.

See this project had the right idea:
http://uthgard.net/de/herald It is a beloved component by player base for the player base and generates site hits on off hours.

LoZ has a neat site feature that shows recent pvp kills, recent item discoveries, and you can track player pvp stats through a search function

I remember the
"NO XP BONUS NEVER EVER" - turns out to be one of the best things that was done. I was against it but not particularly on a crusade of any sort. The LoZ feature would be excellent here. Maybe you guys could share some code love and everyone's better off for doing it (like I said).
