If your main goal is pvp then a rogue isn't going to suit you till kunark, a ranger has more leeway.

Fixt.
Melees become much more viable in kunark. They are hard to play with the custom resist system because you need MR in every slot to reliably resist CC spells. Melee are always harder than caster because when things go bad, there is no gate spell, and like i said, eventually you will get rooted and die.
Melee are excellent in group pvps.
