I like how people in this thread are essentializing women as all liking cutesy things.
If you're playing a ranger, she should play a necro. It's a fun class that can be involving, and is great at soloing and duoing. It duos better with a ranger than any of the other classes on your list. Or if she thought she'd like playing a chanter, maybe she should just play a chanter. They're really not that complicated and you can even fear kite with her if you're playing a ranger.

I tried to get a non-gamer ex-girlfriend into Counterstrike years ago. I found it was really helpful when I could associate stuff in the game with stuff with which she was familiar. For example, when I wrote her a noob guide for getting familiar with the weapons, I associated each pistol with a character from Saved By The Bell - this really helped her! Maybe you should adopt a similar approach and tie it to whatever dumb shit she's into, whether it's Jersey Shore or Sex in the City or Gilmore Girls or what have you.

After reading this thread throughout the day yesterday, she's decided on a wood elf druid for her first toon. I probably won't do any PLing as suggested but I might get a few lower level items for her to reduce the frequency of dying (and possible frustration). I'm also thinking that rolling a new toon for myself would be worthwhile too....maybe a monk or warrior. Anyways thanks for the tips and insight guys - it was quite helpful.

Enchanter is the most powerful class in the game, and can triple the productivity of any group combo they are in. Again, if she understands what an Enchaneter does and was immediately attracted to that class, she will not be interested in the others probably except for maybe a shaman.
She needs to be thick skinned to play an Enchanter. The class is rare and some people just don't really know how to group with an Enchanter. There will occassionally be the dumbass who doesn't umderstand that there was a slight delay in refreshing haste because you had to unexpectedly lock down 7 mobs that were trained or that there was a slight delay in mezzing as you had to regain control or Mez your high dps pet that can kill you in four swings if your not on point with stunning it the second charm wears off, etc. You also have to have the ability to monitor how long buffs are lasting so you can refresh in time, get used to random people always asking for crack and haste, etc. The class requires an eye for detail, patience, intelligence, and a thick skin. If your gf has this she will not like other classes and will honestly regard them as too simple once she groups with a chanter and sees what they do. The fact that she chose an Enchanter this early and I Assume understNds what they are about is a good indicator. Have her read the Xornn guide and if she likes it then it may be a good fit. | ||
