Can someone explain to me why anyone in the middle class would not want affordable health care? Health care for my family would cost me about $1k a month through my company. I would rather have my taxes increased. There is no way they are going to tax me 1k a month.
Is it not in a country's best interest to have healthy people that can live long and have children that will all grow up and be paying taxes back into the system? How can I work hard, live long and pay my taxes if I am not healthy? Asher

I'm no healthcare law expert or anything.. but it can be crazy expensive if you have pre-existing conditions
my brother's wife has had diabetes from birth and he is always complaining about how his health insurance costs about the same each month as his house payment. there are examples out there which I don't care to dig up atm.. i do remember reading about how having health insurance doesn't even lower your medical bills sometimes. this one lady wrote about her experience getting some xrays and it would have cost here like 1 thousand dollars had she paid out of pocket but with insurance it cost here 2k (that was her copay) and they charged more against the insurance. overcharging is the main reason hospitals and health insurance companies are against provisions requiring them to provide a list of prices for the 100 most used services at a hospital.
