Are they going to get rid of the PC hack?

I would really like to try and play there but it's not worth buying a mac.

That's the thing...I said before I would wait and get a mac, but if it's basicly a Sony supported EMU that has all of the problems of an EMU, why bother? Even if you wanted to get a mac, you would be crazy not to go check it out on PC first before making that investment if there are known issues. Lack of development and support for a server like that I can understand, but performance issues that break bards? On a live server now?

Besides the era, being on a live server with the polish and performance that should bring is half the point, no? I say this as a current paying subscriber to EverQuest.

I've only gotten to level 6 as a bard, so I can't offer a lot in the way of criticism for the server. However as I did say in my previous post, I'm experiencing significant server-side latency issues that spikes up only when I start pulling multiple NPCs for an AoE kite. And I'm not talking half of a zone, maybe 5-10 mobs at a time. This results in mobs randomly jumping closer to you than perceived mid-circle, which will mean certain death at higher levels. This was happening in four different zones for me.

Is this normal for Mac users? Could it have something to do with being on a Windows machine using a hacked copy of EQ Titanium to connect? Is there a Trojan in the patch files so that Secrets can see what kind of porn I'm viewing late at night? I have no idea. I tried asking some higher level bards if they had difficulty PBAoE kiting but they all seemed to be using charm and chants instead.

If you're on a PC look in the Eqmac folder find the datarate.txt....Open it up i think it's set at 5.0 make it 9.0
Just attempted this, didn't seem to do anything. The right side of the latency bar (server-side?) is still jumping to over 1500 during kites. Just got gibbed by a pack of 8 orc centurions. On top of this, they're still seeming to "warp" on top of me at random intervals. The strange part of it being that not all of them do it, only 1-3 at a time, whereas the rest of the kite seems to stay where they should.

I am confuse. Also, fuck the fog in gfay.

I watched a bard in Plane of Nightmare solo month or so ago he was using some sort of charm method. Only time i have had super lag was at the Ring event with 50+ people there the other night but it was manageable. 4-5 mob pulls in a grp latency sometimes jumps up to 1k from time to time but i am not kiteing either [You must be logged in to view images. That bard was rocking the planes with that charm method though
Yeah dude, standard swarm kiting uses charm + single target chants. I'd have zero issues doing it that way even with the lag I'm getting because you don't have to get as close to the pack of mobs, but the first bard charm is around level 27 iirc. Level 6-27 is a looong grind with no way to PBAoE kite and seemingly no lowbie groups happening.

Thanks anyways though. The server still excites me, just looks like I'm playing something else to start.

I'm on my bard Hyarth. Not sure what your character name is. I'm loafing around PoK re-memming songs heh.

That was probably my bard.

It's because prox aggro actually works there. Can just gather a swarm, charm one mob, let the swarm beat your mob to a pulp, hide/invis to break charm when your pet is at a few %left, snare the former pet (to separate it from pack), charm a new mob, sick that new pet on the old one and get the exp while the swarm beats on your new pet. etc etc etc. Can plow through the entire stalker camp in just minutes.

Likewise, the same strategy can be used to break into and solo Pofear.

As for your pb-aoeing not working? I'm not sure what's wrong. I haven't done that in a long time and I was never a fan of that method, though I've successfully done snow cougars in iceclad, rockhoppers in dawnshroud, and w/e random animals i could grab in stonebrunt (for hides).

Stalkers camp? That's my single favorite solo camp in the game, ever. You can clear that entire camp three times as a bard swarming on a single Vet Exp if you camp between pops to save the buff....10 mins per kite. The social aggro is perfect....best in the game to that point that I know of....eventually it becomes second nature and you can do it in your sleep. Butter.

They say the hobgoblins on the other side of the ditch are just as good but bit higher level.
