Besides the normal hurdles that every EQ pvp server has to overcome, there has been a serious series of missteps. It is going to take a suite of actions both from staff and players to turn this around. There has been plenty of suggestions and criticisms for the staff to digest so i won't comment on those. I will however comment on what the players can do. First we have to change "the sky is falling" attitude even if it really is. Most vztz players were relatively content with 100 players. Using the current population numbers and drawing a boxing extrapolation to vztz, there would be around 100-180 right now taking boxes into account. We currently have more players than the average 6-month old vztz box 1.0-3.0. Those are the cold hard facts. There is something to still be excited about. What we lack right now is parity. PvP servers have to have at least 2 guilds who can reasonably believe they have a chance or 1 will quit and the server dies off. Currently, that's where we stand - dead in the water. We have no guild that can challenge the one guild who would rather destroy the server than compete. I do not believe anyone in nihilum would argue they have not recruited the server dead, at least while being honest. Despite this fact, it's hard to blame them. Most people would rather recruit the server dead than let another guild win it. Despite all the recent improvements, the single biggest factor in turning this sinking ship around is another guild who can compete with the colossal server killing zerg. That brings us to the OP. Emperor Rexx is the one person that has the proven pedigree that can rise up a guild single-handedly and save not only everyone's hopes and dreams but literally the server itself. It remains to be seen If those that are playing currently, who are not in the succubus guild, will rally behind the one true potential savior. It also remains to be seen if Rexx still has enough strength and determination to find and lead us through the poopsock hole as he did so many times so many months ago, including past the chin-deep fish-reeking corpses. Once the flickering light of hope is lit, many will return to help carry the torch. Those who are crying and lamenting incessantly are merely crying out in hopes of a better tomorrow. Indeed, Emperor Rexx is that one hope. Only He can galvanize the bickering factions. Only He can stand as a bulwark against the waves of blue. Only he is of the lineage of heroes with the sand to overcome. Will Rexx accept his destiny? Will you follow him? Nothing less than the life of the server is at stake. If Rexx chooses to deny his calling, we are all truly finished. What say you? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] | |||

Every time i see someone blame nihilum for the state of the server, I laugh my ass off.
Four months ago, there were 4 or 5 guilds with 20-30 people, all were trying to recruit. I was offered a spot in holo, nihilum, uprising, IF, Axis, and a few otheres I can't remember the names of. The problem was, all guilds were bleeding members due to the real server issues (resists, admin apathy, griefing). At the time, Holocaust was the biggest zerg, but half the server despised them, so they slowly lost to the better guild (in every respect). Get over it, it happened. The only sway players held over the current state of this server was in the way they treated other players, and we all know Nihilum isn't the culprit there.
