UI related problem. I have had this happen.
I suggest you go to your EQ folder, backup the UI of your crashing main, then copy over the files from a non-crashing character and rename them by replacing the alt name with your main character name.
That should get you up and running again. After that you'll have to reorganize hotkeys and spells - but try not to move the UI items around too much on the screen from the stable configuration.
Very annoying and frustrating - I sympathize - imagine my agony when my alt starting crashing in the middle of a jboots multiquest.. (after I had turned in ring of the ancients for her)
