Forgive my ignorance but couldn't you simply put a cap on the number of allowed connections to say 300 and deny any further connections to prevent flooding? Once again forgive my ignorance but could someone explain why that wouldn't work?

Well it looks like we will have to wait for the next eq classic server release. Thanks to all the guys of project 1999- all my buddies switched to your server from other much more lame games. R.I.P. Project 1999 ( 2009-2009 )

Would you not be able to just use a new data center that has better protection against this sort of thing? I assume that all the data on the current server is still there and could just be moved, right?
