You nerds are making this such a bigger deal than it is. Enable OOC, make it so you can only make 5 emotes every 30 seconds or something. Simple as that. None of this flagging people or location bullshit, I mean its fucking chat? This is only going to BOOST interest and player base, it brings a sense of community and liveliness to the server. When I logged on last it seemed pretty vapid and hollow, especially in zones that no one hangs out in anymore.
This sounds logical if you're anti-social and have no friends, and no options for a guild. It may ring truer for people just starting, but a case can be made for forums in that regard.

I started on the server late and had few people to level up with. I made friends, some of whom I PvP against now...and even so we're still friendly.

/wave FF crew (fun bunch to fight against)

Community and liveliness comes from being social in a social game. Not trying to be the uber solo PK that doesn't have any other means of being involved in a community other than global and YT.

We can all argue it till we're blue in the face though. Like I said...it's a very divisive issue, and could contribute to fragmenting an already weak population instead of helping. We should work on things that we all can agree on...increased 1-20 xp rate, more events...whatever.

Holy F$%@ing christ the people that are saying " HEEEEEE I DONT WANT GLOBAL OOC " are the same people that don't want an increase in exp this constant bull shitting is freaking crazy. THE SERVER HAS TO HAVE ONE OR THE OTHER.... WHY?

BECAUSE THE SERVER IS DYING!!!!!

you're bluebie existence is hindering this server from any potential growth so shut the hell up and go back to P99 blue or get off the forum

The community interaction on the server right now is virtually nil. If you're solo and/or guildless, then yeah it's even worse.

Back on live sometimes GFay or EC would have 200+ people in it, which is the entire server's population.

OOC gives people something to do while they're sitting for ten minutes to regenerate HPs in between solo grind kills. The trash talk and drama is what a lot of people used to play for on TZ.

I wouldn't even consider it as "global" OOC - it's more like "OOC that will actually get used for its intended purpose". The same goes for /auction.

No clue if its been said or not im not reading 30 pages but, how hard would it be to put in a general chat channel that is optional to join, like how it is on live u woudl type /join general and connect u to a chat channel with the rest of the server or the people who join it, that way if u dont want to hear it u dont have to, i mean u could just turn ooc off but then umight miss something said in the zone, not sure how hard it would be to add a chat channel tho.

People will then use shout to communicate in the zone. Who would use global ooc to talk to someone in their zone?

The best laughs and times I had on VZTZ were directly influenced by global OOC. There was a reason we had a community full of memes and original funny material.

It also provides something to do, as Searyx said, while sitting around waiting for things in Everquest. The population is like 180 now at peak times, the server seems dead and lifeless. Just add global OOC, if you don't want to see it then filter it out. I really do not understand the issue.

Yellow text inspires PVP, so what if it says the zone you're in when you die, in my opinion take anonymous out while you're at it. Big things need to happen.

Everything you said has been thoroughly responded to already.

its just a habbit for me i use OOC to talk in the zone everything i dont know if its quicker to type out then the others or what but i never find myself typing /shout or /auc its always /ooc probably by habbit, i still think a General chat channel would be the way to go if its easy to add, if poeple want global ooc so bad its not hard to type /join general and then u have global chat with poeple who "want" it.
