Yeah the front info page is a little vague. Oh well. Velious only. I'm happy.

Seems to me the bigger discussion isn't if they will go past velious, but what to do when that content is beaten. General consensus seems, if the population is still very active, to just start a second - fresh - server.

I'm happy to be here and am looking forward to the content through Velious.

That said, I'd be tickled pink if they decided to go ahead and progress beyond Velious if the population is strong.

However, to prevent some of the issues later expansions introduced, I'd suggest that this server's version of Velious would have no Bazaar functionality, and no Nexus Spire ports (wiz/dru could still port groups to the nexus or other Luclin zones once the spells were acquired, but no 'anyone can sit at a spire and port to the nexus' shortcuts).

Then for PoP, disable all PoK books. Again, wiz/dru could still port to PoK and from there folks can go to PoTranq and raid zones etc, but no books allowing instant travel from newbie zone to newbie zone.

With those minor tweaks, (No bazaar, no instant travel) I think Luclin and PoP would fit the feel of this server and provide another couple of years of solid 'classic' progression for the players.

Anyway, just my thoughts on what to do post-Velious. It's a couple of years off anyway, and I'm going to enjoy the ride while it lasts, as far as it lasts [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Dont talk about luclin, alot of people here seem to have some passionate hatred for it as though the expansion was responsible for murdering their families or something.

was an awesome expansion imo!

Ease of travel removed a lot of the utility of port classes (Dru/Wiz). Additionally, a lot of server community was formed during the downtime spent sitting around waiting for a port... Not to mention the inforced interaction with other players caused by having to ask for and/or donate for ports.

A lot of groups got formed, friends made, etc when players had to interact with each other for basic utility. This is also why the Bazaar is such a bad thing. Having to meet physically to transact goods, and actually interact with a non-afk player helped encourage community growth.

Granted, there was some bad that went along with this, such as scam artists doing bogus trades, and mean high-level porters who would take you to Skyfire Mountains instead of Lavastorm [You must be logged in to view images. The more features that were added to make things easier for solo play (ie: self ports, soulbinders, afk selling, instances, mercenaries, etc) the more the community and player interaction that makes an MMO actually feel like a massive shared world went away and was replaced by small cliques and isolationist guilds.

trying to find ports was / is the most tedious task ever. it did nothing but build hatred and make me powerlvl a druid for a port bot >_<.

i do see where you are coming from, but its not THAT bad and it dosent destroy any quality of the game. IMO.
