Free health care if you're from country xyz? Savings/retiremebt account?

Otherwise, the same way every other self-employed person does it.

Basically he was just telling you 100k self employed with no benefits (in your case a poker player) doesn't equate to someone with a real job that has benefits.

100k self employed quickly becomes 75k a year when you take out benefits.

Meh. That's the nature of being self-employed - and deciding if insurance is worth the cost if you are a healthy 20-something.

Also, 75k is actually is probably more like 150k reported as 40k. Don't get audited!
