Game Mechanics: patch PoFear trash mobs back to classic (i.e. no summoning)?

Okay so all npcs > 50 can summon. Not all npcs in fearplane are > 50.

I do believe there was something to this though... I remember being summoned in hateplane, but not fearplane.

Does anyone else have more information?

I can tell you that I soloed PoFear breakin on SOEs first progression server The Combine with an untwinked level 54 necro, while the server was in Velious mode: on September 8, 2006

I can provide you with my logfile from back then - but of course it is only Progression, so it's not 100% classic.

I also know on live I was never ever summoned by trash in PoFear.

Only thing I remember that would summon was the Big stuff like CT, Golems, Draco. Everything else just swarmed ya. Also I remember one mob that would port some one to a random spot near by that cuased bad things as well.

That are all scarelings, and it's implemented here already correctly.

Here's a screenshot of mine from Fear prior to Kunark's release showing an Amygdalan Knight summoning:

I seem to remember that when the zone was first opened and there was no level restriction on entry to the zone, there was no summoning either. I believe this was corrected at roughly the same time as the level restriction change to 46+.

Okay - I just checked my log. Apparently I did not fight Amygdalan Knights when soloing PoFear breakin. And with your reminding us, I do seem to recall the knights summoning. I know for a fact that the entrance mobs didn't - and pretty sure Amygdalan warriors do not either.

So mobs that do not summon are definitely:
- spinechiller spiders
- scarelings
- shiverbacks
- fetid fiends
- boogeymen
- turmoil toads
- samhains
- tentacle tormentors

Mobs that I am unsure of:
- frightfingers
- gorgons
- phantasms
- glare lords
- worry wraiths
- nightmares
- phoboplasms
- Amygdalan warriors

Mobs that do summon:
Amygdalan knights

As Nilbog stated in his post, summoning is based on level. Monsters over level 50 will summon. The level for these monsters varies. For example, a Scareling might spawn as level 49, and not summon. However, it may also spawn as level 51 and summon. Summoning in the Plane of Fear is working as intended.

I contend that this is either not true for PoFear, or that 95% of the mobs I named used to spawn (on live) as level 50 and lower, and did not summon.

If someone has an active live account, I would kindly ask them to go to live PoFear nowadays and test how many scarelings etc. they can find that will summon them.

Summoning may be working as previously intended (for the reasons I stated in my OP), but it is not working like it was on classic.

Pretty sure Live is on at least Fear 3.0 isn't it? Doubt you can get much useful info that way any more. Al'Kabor might be helpful though...
