Bingo, not immune to Petrify. Or Condemned, so Pummel can take him out too.

Also how are you equipping Gau in this one? He seems to have a lot of magic-oriented stuff but I don't know enough about his Rages to know if adding MPower improves them, or if his weapon has anything to do with his attacks during Rage. Should he have Earrings x2 and Mpower items, or should I just up his evade and defense?

Depends on what you're raging, obviously. Most of the best early Rages (Anguiform, Rider, etc) have both physical and magic based attacks, so you may want to go for a hybrid setup (later end gear is nice for this, like the Sensei Armor and Hero Ring). Usually the magic-based attack is best so you may put a preference on magic power and earrings, especially if you're hitting a weakness.

If you're using something like Over-Mind then you can just pump up his defense as you're just relying on petrification.

I haven't found any armor he can use that defends worth a damn so it's been all-out MPower for now. Using Rhinotaur rage a lot in the Magitek facility for dat GigaVolt, it's been handy. I didn't go back and get his Serpent Trench monster rages, would be nice to have Anguiform.
