Yea unless the ranger is very well geared CH prob doesn't make sense but heals in general are going to be much better with a cleric. Especially HoT's.

For grind groups a Ranger can tank just fine. It's gonna be more of a mana sink compared to a real tank but obviously you won't be duoing jugs similar hard hitting mobs. What they do offer in many zones is the ability to pull singles and root park so the cleric can do what it does best: Heal.

You also don't have to worry about Jboots, levitate, and a number of other utility spells.

complete heal needs to hit for around 1200 for it to make sense to be used over superior healing which honestly isn't that hard to achieve even on a ranger. with level appropriate cleric and self buffs, a robe caster will have over 2000 hp at level 50. that means a complete heal needs to hit at about 40% on a lvl 50 robe caster to make sense over using superior healing. i'd have to imagine that a ranger should have substantially more HP than a robe caster, but i don't really know how much.

Thanks for the numbers and analysis. Appreciated [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I guess what I should have said is that CH isn't nearly as efficient as it would be on other tanks. Also, that even dot heals like Celestial Elixir from a cleric blow the eventually attained Nature's Touch out of the water (4 hps/mana vs 2.44 hps/mana with less cast time). I'm still not arguing that I was right tho.

I can't even imagine a Ranger with full stat gear having less than 4k hps buffed up so your 1.2k minimum is easily surpassed. No, it's not a sk/pal/warr/or monk but a legit tank if you have realistic goals. Throw in a Swarmcaller for 600pp and it's not a bad setup. Weaponshield disc eventually too but that's a ways off.
