I'm going to have to agree with Gwence. Although Kunark was a cool expansion overall, as far as the raid scene went it was just more of the same. I'm not saying NToV or VT were necessarily "difficult". However, going from 32k mobs that can't even really be considered "tank and spank" because they are so fast that tanking wasn't much of a factor to 30 minute fights where tanking, mana conservation and overall strategy played a much larger role certainly favored intelligent players.

I know you guys can sit around all day and talk about how EQ doesn't take skill, but any activity where you're forced to coordinate 50+ people for extended periods of time absolutely allows you to differentiate players (both individually and grouped) from one another. In my opinion, that is where the argument for "skill" in EQ is most relevant.

Also, given that the nature of pretty much every fight right now can be described solely by weighing raid DPS vs. mob health - it is really easy to wipe on an encounter if something happens that adversely affects the raid DPS (such as an entire raid getting hit by a DPS reducing AE). There really are no magical strategies on any of the fights right now - if your raid DPS is above a certain threshold, you will almost always win (the same cannot be said for later expansions, encounters like High Priest in Ssra is a prime example). So wiping on Gore is less about numbers, as aggregate DPS. Whether you have 30 or 60, if your sustainable DPS doesn't reach a certain threshold, you lose.

let me just break it down for you...

your raid leaders and others were caught cheating (perun, acarer, mezeno, etc.)

You've since re-admitted those people back into the guild. So therefore you have no shame when it comes to this.

Many players left TR from the fallout and reputation hit. That's why your numbers have dropped drastically since then. You've tried recruiting players, but since it isn't working too well because your past history of training, re-admitting cheating players, you have:

A. resorted to posting banked loot acquired in the past to sway potential (selfish) apps and to divert attention away from your rep
B. sweet-talked VD leadership into increasing your numbers because of your fear of TMO.

Just stating the obvious :\

I disagree. I personally don't think cheating really affected them, and really, how cheating is viewed on this server is different than it was before imo. The mass suspension really brought into light what a lot of people already knew but didn't talk about. Anyone who pretended to be surprised by all the cheating is full of shit - everyone always knew, but pretended they didn't. Not just in one guild or another, but really any guild that has held a #1 or #2 spot (IB, DA, TR, Transcendence, and TMO are only 6 I can think of) - so don't take this as me trashing one side or another. The difference was that before it was always 1 or 2 people at a time, so the rest just naturally admonish the banned individuals and went on with business as usual. But people would have to have been naive as shit to think cheating wasn't as wide spread as the suspension show us it was.

That being said, I think everyone has bit of a guilty conscious, even if they don't really know it (subconscious guilt!) about the whole thing. Because of that guilt, I feel that the atmosphere of the server is a bit more forgiving of it. I mean, these weren't just random people that got cheating - this is a really social game and people form fairly close friendships. A big part of those kind of relationships is forgiving people. I know that sounds lame as shit - but even on the guide application this kind of stuff is acknowledge. There is a question on there about if you caught a friend hacking - I mean, anyone who isn't a bag of dicks as a friend wouldn't sincerely turn their friend in. They'd be like "hey cock, stop cheating or you're going to get banned. Never again." problem solved.

So yea, with the revelation that cheating was wide spread, even among your own ranks and people you consider friends - I don't get them impression anyone sincerely holds the same intense grudges over it that they did before.

TR's dwindling numbers is from the same thing it always is. They've sufficiently beaten the available content, and only the most dedicated are still around. 99% of that guild is keyed, and they probably have alts keyed. Most full members are best-in-slot for 90% of their items, and the remaining items are either ultra-rare or really minor upgrades. They have no real reason to log on other than cock blocking the competition from keys and filling up the guild bank. I mean, 1/2 the ones that log on now probably only log on because they're sick of the competition bragging about getting mobs. Once VP is released, just like with Sky, and just like with Kunark, their members will return and recruitment will spike. Always has, always will.

Just sharing my gift with the world. I'm glad you liked it!

Thinking of changing my pen name to S.M. Loke. I feel it gives me that authory pretentiousness, and S & M as initials because they're both one higher than R & L respectively in the alphabet, so like, it would be kind of like a backhanded acknowledgment/compliment to R.L. Stine. You know, like imitation is the best compliment, but you're only doing it to literally one up the guy?

Unless you were being sarcastic about my novel being cool, in which case never mind.
