Not to derail too much, I am glad mage pets poof. I always thought it was a bit too much to have your pet zone with you. VZTZ pets seemed so powerful all the time that its nice to look forward to pet classes not being so supreme. (counecrogh) Red69 pets quad for 98s on mobs and 60 somethings on players. Was silly.

Pets will poof when zoning, that is classic. But, mages are complete shit without their pet; No CC. No ability to heal themselves. Retardedly long cast times (until Kunark) where people either run out of range or get interrupted. They do decent in dungeons due to their pet, but still aren't that great overall. Usually can beat melee due to just strafing around the pet and self dmg shield.
