Yeah I dont get it, faction is a pretty big deal in <classic> EQ.

Is it they dont know the real faction levels for the different class/race/religion combos or made them easier on purpose?

Correct. There was a huge effort in prekunark beta to get them even somewhat right. Before that, there were Ogres in Kelethin :P

Unfortunately the class/race/religion faction information isn't available anywhere. Well, aside from making level 1s on eqlive and going to con npcs :T

Post specifics and research and we'll fix them.

Ok Nil, while waiting for p99Red i'll log onto EQmac (Al'kabor) and start researching this for you guys.

I noticed that half the level 1 toons I made here to look around gave no faction adjustments when turning in their "guildnote" either, so i'll record that too.

Al'kabor has not been patched since 2002 or so, so it should really represent starting faction levels as they were in original EQ.

I know this was mentioned but Iksars should be KOS everywhere. I think this was well-known back in the day, I was a nub back then and even I knew that.

Does anyone know if human rogues of Innoruuk are supposed to be KOS in Neriak? I created just such a character on P99 and was surprised that the guards in Nektulos forest glared threateningly at me. Especially since I assume that human clerics, shadowknights, necromancers, and warriors of Innoruuk can all wander around Neriak unmolested (have verified this with the shadowknight in fact).

actually i believe there was one antonican city that iksar weren't kos. well not a city per se, bu the sewers of qeynos, iksar should be dubious there and able to bank without any faction work iirc.

This matches up with what I researched last night on Al'kabor, Bloodsabers guild was the only area I could find in the old world that had no KOS/Threatening mobs to the Iskar Monk I was running around with. Well except the wandering begger mobs, those were threatening and I think they are on some Qeynos merchant or theif faction?

About the human Innoruk rogue being KOS in Neriak, I have not tested that combo yet but a human cleric of Innoruk was threatening to the dark elf necromancers that sit up on the first gate inside Neriak.

Point is, factions are not portrayed right. If I know they will acomplish something, i'll continue to make posts in the bug section with different race/class/religion combos and post their starting faction.

Priority should be the "evil" combos, since they seem the most out of wack.

The Prima guide wasn't exactly a bastion of reliability. "Everyone knows Iksars were KoS" isn't dependable information, it's just assumption based on what Verant said; and Verant wasn't quite perfect at doing exactly what it said it would.
