Get a Triumph. British engineered. Unique bikes with history. They make crotch rockets AND cruisers. The harley riders appreciate them, if that matters, as do the sport bike crowd.
http://www.triumphmotorcycles.com/ New they are spendy, but if you are lucky you can find one used from a guy who never rides his and wants to get rid of it. Friend of mine bought a 95 Thunderbird in mint condition for dirt cheap and its a real head turner.
