I'm surprised you viewed ranger favorably. They were so underpowered and their gear options basically require them to have a Paladin in the trio. The bow options are basically nil until you get to Sky. They just feel weaker than every other class barring Beastlord. RNG/BST/MAG or RNG/BST/BRD feel like the worst combos I can imagine in the current state.

Basically if you're not PAL/Slower/DPS you're doing it wrong and that's a problem. They've got to figure out how to make the other classes viable without nerfing Paladins too harshly or diminishing the effectiveness of Slow.

Hmm there is no brown robes in the game is there? Would be fun to go full jedi.

I guess this lost circle robe is the closest to jedi robes.

Can you rep pal with war so you can use the lightsaber epic tho for complete look.

Soulfire is a good lightsaber until then tho.

Any long hair race that looks like quigon?

Can go mace windew and waer the hood but jedi would never be caught dead in those slippers.

Yeah, slow is pretty gimped as is too I think like the duration is less than I think is normal.

With slow you can tank a D4 boss as a tri caster, but without slow a war can't unless it's getting spam healed. Maybe as a cleric you can keep your HPs up and have enough time to do some dps before you have to go back to healing. Maybe. Idk I havent done war cleric X.

pending balance changes post beta...

what i tried:

WAR/DRU/BRD = dru/bard thorns stack with thorns pot (anyone can do alchemy) + singing aa's affect thorns. got it to 77 pts by the end. pull whole zones of blues but not a bosser. great afk/low input farmer if you want something while working etc.

PAL/ZERK/BRD = autoattack brainless madness straight to 50. ez to haste cap and zerk stance meme is great. but if you ever have to go defensive, you lose virtually all the benefits of zerk. A geared PAL/ZERK is a great duo for plvling your third class though as the undead blender, but then you're sanctioning yourself to befallen and lgukquest for eternity.

PAL/MNK/ENC = loh, mend, feign, mez, slow, haste. 1000 ways to get out of a bad situation and surprisingly enough heals to take bosses. basically broken bullshit jedi meta. recommended

what i confirmed but didnt get to high level:

ENC/ROG/x - you can hide/sneak with a charm and it wont break. also leveling up charm via motes allows you to boost the -mr check on it AND the level it affects, plus overchannel stance. at level 11 you can pretty reliably charm a level 30 red. so, sneak/hide to the bottom of befallen d4, grab the biggest mnk/zerk or war/mnk or something you can find, sneak/hide back up to ent, have fun. can also hide to skate agro and join the melee.. even without a rogue ENC is absurd. mote up level 11 charm to VII and you can *probably* charm a sand giant and bring your new friend to old school orc highway

RNG can replace MNK as dps because they amped their melee and defensive skills to MNK level, plus they get a flat atk bonus that exceeds monk. So you end up really just trading away mend and fd for arguably better damage, except....

the best weapon is the game is a 1h PAL weapon (lol), primary only, plus you can attach a complete heal affect clicky to it with a 15 minute cooldown + a 100 dmg proc. the second best is MNK 1h, which is not lore and can be dual wielded.

so basically the main character of classic EQL is PAL/MNK/slower of your choice. honestly there are so many factors contributing to this power combo that they'd have to nerf like 5 separate things before it fell

other things I have little knowledge of but heard:

NEC/WIZ/ENC is a full caster capable of highest solo. cool in general
SHM/anything can probably do anything in the game

underpowered right now (hope they address it):
MAG, BST, pets overall
ROG bs and poisons don't have any scaling or leveling so they start good and fall off

my 2cp
This was a really good read. Thanks!

At what level did you get the damage shield maxed on the WAR/DRU/BRD. Is there any gear or class that could make the shield more damaging?

A bit surprised to see [melee]/Shaman/Necro as the most powerful class combos on the sites that track it

Don’t shaman and Necro both share the poison line dots? So a big chunk of one’s spell arsenal is irrelevant? I guess it must be some sort of synergy with Torpor + lich line + lifetaps?

I think this is just typical gamer hype, its not as powerful as people say it is.

Theres a guy on youtube doing D4s with it last week and so everyone thinks its so pwoerful, but heres what he does:

1. he casts level 20 Dots, like 2 of them.
2. he casts level 30-40 debuffs 1 necro 1 shaman (that dont help much but a little).
3. he spam heals and cannis on himself while doing 20-40dps with melee pet and 100dps with dots.
4. he holds on for bare life
5. wins

It really isn't that powerful, it's capable, but powerful is an exaguration.

I saw this happen on THJ all time "flavor of the month" builds that basically happen becuase 1 guy on youtube hypes up a bunch of people.

Then a month later with no real patches there is a new super op combo.

For example on his last stream he swapped out necro for BER and was like, "I think this is the build this was way better than I thought"

I heard about a rog/nec/enc that was soloing d4 stuff np with only the necro lifetaps to keep health up. So with EQL some basic EQ logic we have all learned kinda goes out the window. The one thing that does seem consistant tho is SLOW. Everyone will need it to do the best content, which makes shm/enc basically essential.

Yeah without slow I had a war/nec that could not keep health up against d4 naggy.

Don’t bards and beastlords also get a version of slow? Is theirs weaker to the point of not being useful on high difficulty bosses?

I was listening to someone who was doing a fun looking Pal/Monk/Enc and was saying that Enc debuffs are actually really really useful on high difficulty bosses. Apparently normally you couldn’t land those but with those new stances you can? I’m looking for any justification to use Enc lol since it was my main. He also mentioned that Enc mana regen helps during the long grueling boss fights

In terms of that particular combo the dps is slow but the durability is strong with mend and LoH
