Global /ooc chat is great for low population servers. That's how MUD's were. Everquest comes from MUDs and it's closer to classic EQ anyway to have global /ooc for a low population server, because normal classic EQ means zones should be filled with people.

I don't think they can combine the servers. Character page only allows so many toons. What happens to extras?

The extras remain on the account but can't be accessed until you delete one of the existing top 8. Alternatively, they can change the code to allow the select screen to display more than 8 in these cases.
