Personally, I find the game runs flawlessly in Wine on my old x1 carbon—even raids. My actual Windows 11 gaming PC... not so much. Way more random crashes on Win 11.
which gen x1 carbon? mine is the 2nd gen with the horribad touchbar which was released in 2014. i also only have 8gb of ram though. And did you set the compatibility mode with your new gaming pc?

You can find some good deals on ebay for around $200 but if youre willing to spend around 700 you can get something like easily 10x better.

Is SSD particularly important?
It will help you zone quicker.

I've toyed with all the compatibility settings over the years. VoodooDG fixes, framerate locks, windows settings, registry settings, CPU pinning, etc. Yet P99 has never run as well as it does in Wine. This is probably because Wine is emulating a much more period accurate version of Windows APIs. The biggest issue is stuff like zone crash, crashing on log out, etc. When I raided heavily this was unacceptable, but as a derp around setup it's fine. My Carbon is at least Gen 6.

Yea I’d imagine the gen 6 integrated graphics is miles ahead of my gen 2. The thing just doesn’t want to die so I haven’t had to retire it yet. But interesting point about wine. Makes Mac’s a bit more appealing to run them?
