I'd go Troll all points INT (all the races except human are good though). The hybrids are super fun. Enjoy.

I'm a 60 SK with epic, ToV gear etc and I pretty much solo'd from 1-60. It's a bit of a grind to solo but not terrible if you find the right spots. It's forgiving since you eventually get FD....fear kiting is fun. It's a fun class to play...but with druid you can travel instantly which is nice and get bind.

Starting a caster is always easier unless you have a budget or a starter set of gear gifted to you. Maybe even play a Necro for 30 levels or so as you save up for the SK? That way you will know the starting zones and cities like the back of your hand for your second play-through.

Frankly…a few thousand plat goes a long way so you aren’t leveling with a rusty weapon. You can get that from derv bronze, Mistmoore fine steel, and a few donated pieces.

Whatever you do remember that SKs are better than paladins, forever.

Paladins are luxurious compared to sks. Backup heals and useful buffs
Sks are better fashion,better pullers. If you ever raid youll be asked to swap to a useful class most times,but youll get to play trash tank sometimes.
Both pretty fun in groups
