Did the critical hits only affect undead? I recall my paladin getting crits versus living sometimes but it may have been a limited bug, and I don't remember ever crippling vs a living npc.

Are there any available combat log snippets/screenshots of a player using holyforge prior to 2002?

Your recollection matches my experiences, the crits were against both undead and living targets but I only experienced crippling blows against undead.

I will try to look for some screenshots to support this but I vividly remember the above working as you explained it.
