Is there any advantage of giving Mage epic or EoT weapons?

Deadwood staves and Gnoll Hide lariats are the pet weapons of choice for mage epic. Generally they are so expendable though it isn't worth it.

Yea Gnoll Hide Lariats are likely the underrated champs. A few seconds of stun a fight can save far more hps than a deadwood can tap back. If the goal is dps over tanking, or fighting giants, skip the whips.
