They never made us do the fitness test after elementary school here in WA.

I've no idea why but it probably relates to the soft-secession that's been simmering for decades.

Yea we didn’t have fitness tests that I can recall past middle school

High school had either weight training or gym as a requirement, I had opted for weight training. I remember anyone who played a sport had to also take weight training class

I thought it was cool AF to be able to change into gym clothes and go lift for an hour and go back to class. I barely remember weight training but we def started with a 45 on each side. Only the weakest of the weak boys (like the mentally disabled or otherwise health compromised) started with just the bar, even with the gym coach there to spot
