They're updating and patching things that only occur in the timeline PRIOR to where we are now.

I'll phrase that a different way if you don't understand: They're updating content which we will never see again UNLESS THERE IS ANOTHER RESET.

It would be pointless to update it if it was never going to happen. Therefore, they are still on track with their stated goal of to merge Green into Blue and reset Green again.

Maybe, but the work is also it’s own reward and the evidence is often found while researching things which impact the ‘current’ era. As such, I don’t think the updates that predate the current server time point guarantees a reset/new server … but it doesn’t seem off the table either.

Um, no: no one is doing classic research for "the feels" of it. No one does the massive amount of work necessary to research classic EQ like Nilbog has ... for twenty-plus years ... all to create the server's most classic EQ Emulation ... and then continues doing that work when there's absolutely no point to it. I'm sorry, but no one does that.

The research of already past eras has one, and only one, cause: Nilbog intends to release another server.

Rofl. With all due respect what game do you think this is? I'm not gonna speculate on Nilbog's reasons but people roll 12 alts and spend hours doing quests. Making the most era-accurate server as passion project might just be for its own sake.

Thanks for bringing the quoted post to my attention. I research bugs for the fun of it. I don’t think I’m a freak for enjoying uncovering how a game I like actually used to be.

Nobody does it for the fun of it, you must have some altera motive. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Oh they are doing it for the money?

Nilbog absolutely will do all that work to make "the most era-accurate server" (for free)! What I'm saying is that he wouldn't do all that work when there's no endpoint.

Maybe, if you're a "freak" ([You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]) like Jimjam ...

... you might be curious how old EQ worked, and look a few things up occasionally.

But you're not going to go through the trouble of getting other people to gather research and create bugs, then track and manage all those bugs, and then formally resolve each one.

I don't think there's any real doubt: Nilbog is doing all that work for Green 2.0.

NIICE this was one of the few good fantasy movies with swords in it that I had to force myself to identify with because we had slim pickings back then.

Still love it though, but I think its funny how hard it was to be a fanatsy fan back then.

Dragonslayer was #1 dragon movie until lotr like 30 years later!
