Why is it that atheists can rip on Christians, and jews, but say one thing bad about Islam and whoa momma.

Many atheists, because they deride religion, are totally ignorant of what's in the actual books, so they see the three abrahamic faiths as being more or less the same thing. They view Islam as a religion of the put-upon and downtrodden though, so they have to defend it to satisfy their do-gooderism quota for the day.
