I think Ecko hit it on the head where she was just ultra-panicked and didn’t realize that a 150 foot fall onto water is like hitting concrete. Or she was so ultra-panicked that the part of the brain that would even compute that was shut down anyway
Yeah that's what I'm thihnking, but realize maybe more like "care" or "was not concerned with anything else"

It also alows the perosn to have "some sort of control" being able to chose to exit, i think thats the most driving force here.

A lack of control, and fear... at least if YOU chose to exit, YOU are gaining control of the situation.

I think the vulnerability is what gets me up there. And maybe what got her.

That's an illusiory sense of control. She obviously didn't choose to die. She had panic in her face / movements.

Control would have been having the ability to choose and ride it out. Or disconnect the boat tether only while riding the chute down normally. Surprised there wasn't a safety release. And she wasn't trained in it's use.

She was totally out of control. Of herself and the situation

Is is interesting I remember hearing about some case study of a woman who had some kind of issue that damaged her amygdala, might have been a TBI or even some deformity or something, I forget the deets. But basically the part of her brain responsible for the fear signal was damaged, and she was incapable of feeling it

So they studied her and in an attempt to confirm this did all these various tests and experiments to attempt to elicit a fear response. And only one of them worked

The only way she was capable of feeling fear was to be denied oxygen, to suffocate. I guess proving that suffocation is our most primal fear, independent of that part of the brain

Intrusive thoughts is not accurate either
Not for me. I have an actual feeling of impulse. I can feel my body just moving itself. In the muscles. Like when you are preparing or training. It's a visual thing to. I feel and picture myself going over the edge and falling or dying and there's literally no panic with it.

Not at all depressed or suicidal either when it happens.

To combat it I have to focus on a different task or some goal and use grounding simultaneously to just observe without following the impulse.

Just curious, have you ever had a panic attack?

Like the knind that makes you feel like you legitimatly could rip your own face off?

I finally had one and it changed a lot of my feelings about them.

I had a friend who had a panic attack once, and i was like, in my mind thinking "whats wrong with this tard, just lets go get a coffee & relax"

but now I know I was wrong.

I think this girl in the video just had the feeling I would get if i was up there.

I really don't think I could handle it. My best bet would be passing out.

If i didnt pass out, there is a chance I claw my eyes out or jump.

Intrusive thought is like, "haha what if i Kicked my friend down these stairs"

But this, what that woman is going through, thats like "IM SUFFOCATING IM SUFFOCATING"

Tbh. U can fly an ultralight in FL without a pilot license. They can weigh like upto 220lb and go 55 miles an hour. Some can carry like 350lb loads.

They are totally death traps tho. If the motor goes and they're usually not the most robust engines ur making a steep and high speed landing.

I think if i was in a capsual and flying in a death trap it would be ok, its the "dangling" and "hanging" way high that gets me.

Once I climbed a 100 foot ladder.. and looking down was actually fine.. But when i looked UP. I almost just detached from the ladder and i had to very cautiously come down and never go up one of those things a gain.

Ironic looking up was what did it for me. The vast openness of the sky, and me feeling so vulnerable just overwhelmed my senses.

It was probably a relatively peaceful death compared to what else she had in store in her life as well. So win/win.

I did a solo jump once that was fantastic. Very peaceful super gentle just floating around.

Also flew a sail plane a few times.

I agree parasailing is kinda idiotic tho.
