so.. anyway.. who is going to step up and make a good PoP locked server that has the original freeport/commonlands zones (unlike live servers) and isnt ran by a retard that completely changes the game (quarm). Essentially the best everquest experience is a P99 like server that goes to PoP.
Only the p99 dev would make such a great server Classic -> PoP

And im not sure they are interested at the moment

Nobody plays TAKP anymore and quarm still has less players than p99 blue and green combined. .

Quarm is actually getting more people lately (1k on average on weekends), specially with the Zeal addon ... no need to belittle other servers, just to make P99 look better, just sayin[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The fact that people are now willing to run a black box that gives full admin privileges and system access to make the quarm jank go away shows how bad we need fresh p99

Oh sweet irony..

Last I tried quarm it was 1% classic EQ, 24% custom content, and 50% people saying how much better it is compared to p99.

It's like that episode of Southpark about the hybrid car people loving the smell of their own farts.

What fits best with p99 culture and PoP is FV ruleset.

Mandatory, of course.

All the latest patches fixing classic elements and the obvious hyper-activity of the staff are clearly hinting at a new p99 server in 2025.

What class will you be rolling on p99 Gold ?
I've never actually played one, but I feel like a Halfling Druid might be one of the strongest starter picks. You get ports, SoW, snare, root, animal charm, solid solo potential, and the ability to quad kite etc. Ports for tips too; and don't seem to stuck without Kunark 50-60 levels.

Halflings also get an EXP bonus, so with some effort and the right leveling route, one could maybe hit some camps faster than most other classes. Plus, there are quests like the WC cap that is always in demand. I'm sure there's probably tons of other quests they would be the best class for, given the right knowledge. Also track.. definitely a strong starting contender..

Too bad they just dont seem that fun in dungeons. I always think that I rarely /who all druid when it comes to grouping. They are fine though if already there =P

I might end up as a Dark Elf Necromancer because killing guards is just so satisfying the whole way haha. I'd rather play as Iksar but mayybe the hide + FD might be cool instead of the occasional /q I remember doing many years ago

Halfling bonus is 5% so unfortunately it won't really make a difference. Is their track skill capped early in Classic? I can't recall.

In any case, it's a good starting char if you want ability to kind of do your own thing. Outside of WIS gear to increase your mana pool, you can root rot and animal charm essentially naked for quite awhile.

Druid and Bard tracking was terrible on Green until well in to Velious. I remember the "timeline" showing it being improved a lot sooner than it was on Green, but they got to it eventually.

its quite LITERALLY never been easier to run your own box.
If there was a desire for that, I'd highly encourage people to do that. That's the whole purpose of making Quarm open source. No one person holds the keys.

There aren't any black box components in Quarm anymore. We're fully open source, as is Zeal.
