Imo they screwed themselves making it a weapon for melee. They knew they would be improving things in expansions and eventually become obsolete. Monk is the only exception really.

They pretty much had to be weapons.

One of the main points of the epic is that it is a visual item that people can see you are holding.

[Foxplay]

Bard: Nothing Epic is pretty much perfect
Cleric: Nothing Epic is easily the most useful epic in the game.
Druid: add second epic- 1hb Staff (Nature Walker's branch) with clicky Chloroblast with 10 second cast
Shaman: Nothing epic is in a good state
Rogue: Add a unresistable aggro reduce proc, make it range slot usable (again)
Necromancer: Add Minion of Hate focus effect
Wizard: Nothing good epic
Magician: Make the Epic pet have slightly better stats, And make Innoruuk 2.0 drop the Earth Staff
Enchanter: Make SoS buff also regen 5hp per tick (Cause snake blood? and still stack with other types of regen) Giving enchanters a unique buff other than their normal haste spells
Ranger: Earthcaller is great but Swiftwind should be a 100hp bow with great resists, ratio and the Swiftwind (Worn) effect, And a clicky arrow summon (Swiftbolt) 5 damage,100 range arrow stack with a non god awful cast time
Paladin: Ratio increase ??, +25 Damage vs. Undead, Change proc to be a Self only rune for 200 that deals 25 damage back to attackers while its active (stacks with other dmg shields) called (Fiery Defense)
Shadowknight: Ratio Increase ??, add 3mana per tick to Soul Consumption proc
Warrior: Red 1h- Ratio increase 14/22 Increase hate gen to 750 / Blue 1h- Ratio increase 14/22 / 2hander Ratio increase?? Increase hate gen to 1000 / ++Make BOC have Enraging blow
Monk: Nothing this epic is fine but make the particle effect happen all the time even when you have weapons equiped

Yes or regeant free rune v or a long duration dictate or something.

A haste that people sometimes click off to get vog instead is probably not the best thing it could have had
