what shoes do you fuck with for your hikes and running?

i wore those Merrell Vapor glove barefoot ones just for the looks for awhile and enjoyed them, the normal ones not the ones with individual toes

edit: just street wearing those things wore a hole through the sole but they were super comfortable until then
I’ve always liked how Brooks brand fits on my big, narrow, floppy clown feet. So for the past like 4+ years I been buying the same Ghost (running) and Cascadia (Trail running but I use hiking) over and over as the new models come out. Sucks because I like to support local biz, but my local shoe stores can never keep the old models in stock because everyone wants them cause they’re cheaper. So I’m stuck having to get the latest model where each of those runs about $140 and the store isn’t allowed to fuck with the price. And I burn through them about every year. So one of each/year =$300 on shoes [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Those nearly barefoot are supposedly the way to go for definitely running. Not hiking where I live though, we supposedly have some of the sharpest rocks in the country and even though my trial runners have a strong thick sole (for a lightweight runner) our rocks even shred it up good. I can’t imagine what a nearly barefoot would feel like hiking

But those are supposedly the best for running, and that is the drawback is that less material tends to wear out quicker. I’ve heard the serious racers will even buy ones that deteriorate so much they are only good for a single race, or maybe only a few. I dunno though, I’m stick in with my Ghost [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Serious racers are so serious about a personal best. If you're getting knee/joint pain while running in an older pair of shoes they've probably lost their bounce and you're more likely to pick up an injury.

That feel of a new pair and walking like you're bouncing in low gravity is great but the sheer cost of more than 1-2 good pairs a year adds up :s

Oh my God new shoes is like running on a cloud isn’t it? It’s like pulling on a still-hot pair of boxer briefs right from drier on a cold day. Freakin bliss [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
