George Carlin was literally the Seinfield of his day pre acid and the WBAI incident over the 7 words. dude just jumped on a trend that was already in motion so he wouldn't have to wear a suit and tie at work anymore.
and even this act (cause he had a partner at the time Burns and Carlin) was a rip off of all the other duo acts prior. why he ended up being the poster boy for nihilism for 25 years at the end of his career. comedians that don't suck shit can fit in a VW bug and you already named 3 of them.
