I always hear a lot of folks be like, "golf is easy!" meanwhile they have a 30 handicap (golf is a metaphore for EQ in this example)

I will give honerary credit to those space MMO people that do the corperate guild wars that cost them 100's of thousands of IRL dollars though, that is like quantum gaming afaik.

the only EQ analogy i can come up with is idk like paying a guild 100+k for a no drop raid item instead of just being a member of said guild and buying the same item for 10dkp.

the people "funding" the wars ingame are doing so via ingame currency generation methods orders of magnitude more efficient and less retarded than the formula all those articles go by which assumes every single titan lost in the battle was paid for by someone buying a hundred billion isk worth of game time codes on the credit card and selling those ingame for the funds to buy a titan


the most expensive war was funded by a dude who made a casino website people could use ingame money on, dude printed literally trillions and hired the entire galaxy to kill the SA Goons so the game company banned casinos, and him obviously because he tried to RMT eventually

Oh ya. I had misunderstood the golf metaphor as relaxing, because combat in EQ is generally slower paced than WoW. And because getting especially mana back is such a slower process in EQ, it led to groups being considered slower paced and more social as a result than dungeon running in WoW
