They already said if you have duplicate names that they would add an X to the Green char's name if you used the same name as your Blue character.

They also gave a very explicit warning upfront that if you created Green characters on the same account that you use on Blue, and in the aggregate had more than 8 characters between the two accounts, you would not be able to see some of the characters on the character select screen post-merge. You'd need to delete existing characters to have the excess ones show up. They were clear that this was a limitation of the client and not P99...so not sure if they'd ever be able to find a workaround for that, but in any case they were very clear about the risk and if someone didn't listen to them that's on that person not the staff.
Oh I agree it isn't an insurmountable problem, and they can cover themselves by giving people warnings. But people are often unreasonable, and/or may have missed the memo.

It's still a risk you'll lose players if the merge doesn't go smoothly. Especially for players who can't play their favorite character right away for whatever reason.

Personally I think merging is still the best option so you don't have a 3-way population split. That will end up being worse than merging issues, unless they really drop the ball somehow.
