Maybe it was the wrong word. Gay and trans people definitely exist, and always will, despite the efforts of reactionary conservatives. Their efforts to censor them out of the minds of kids will probably have the opposite outcome. The actual people who write laws in America. Play dumb all you want on this, but you know who I mean. The monied interests of America, both outside of Govt and within Govt, from every political angle leaving most citizens with a lot to be desired. We are very far away from this quaint notion:

We have a ticket based system to get the attention of Govt officials. Not explicitly called pay-for-play but functionally that is how it works. If you reach out to your congress person to write a law don't expect them to listen unless you have cash.
