the conservative father feels as though it is his job, nay, his duty to shield and protect his young daughter from what he feels are the evils of the world.

"I will protect her, so that she will never even know that evil exists in the world, and her life will be serene"

the father, portrayed as the stereotypical conservative white male, is dressed in all earth tones, with cargo pants and the brown ball cap, suggesting a military or militant ideology.

the father trudges through the dark, cold and dangerous water, he elevates his daughter up above the ocean of perceived threats, with her background being heavenly rays of sunshine portraying the higher calling of religion.

the meme is a dig at parenthood, conservatism, religion, the desire to make up ones mind on their own, and the freedom to decide as a parent what is best for one's child.
