super bored of vidya games recently and looking to run some Dungeon Crawl Classics which is like a retro clone of old school dungeons and dragons from the 70s & 80s.

you start the game off with 4 level 0 peasants and try to get hopefully at least one of them through a level 0 funnel adventure alive to level 1 where you get to actually pick a character class.

The Fighting Fantasy books are also worth a look. Grew up reading them, think I had my first book at the age of 8 or 9 and was fully immersed.
