Seriously though. Not only will this server have the strongest PVP population because of server stability and the reputation of those running it alone, but I believe it will also have a calling for blue server players as well. I know a lot of people jump at the chance to start on a brand new server where everyone starts on the same page. Being able to camp things like jboots, manastones and rubicite again. Again, I touched on this in previous posts. This is where I believe the counter balance of having anti-pk guilds will come in, and those anti-pk guilds will likely be formed by the bluebies that migrate over when the server opens.

PVP doesn't work that way. When people fuck in a PUG or are known tards, they will be PK'd. There will be griefers that don't give a fuck... it doesn't work the way it does on blue. I can't imagine a random group of people forming together to XP, especially with the type of people we deal with. An anti PK guild on P99 will be destroyed very quickly, mark my words. If there is one, I'll play just to grief them. I can think of a handful of others that would do that same. The true bluebies won't last. You also haven't come up with a solution to my question.... if the server has been out for a weeks or even a few months, what does a total newbie do with no gear that doesn't play a solo class. The population would have to be 200+ minimum for this to work and I still don't see that new person with no groups to level with lasting long with horrible XP and immediate grief upon the appropriate level. I don't see the issue with 2 boxing, anyone can level this way and it it puts them at a disadvantage in PvP. The best PvPer is going to run around with full buffs anyway...

P99 solved this problem with a large enough population that at any given moment, there are a number of characters in each level range, and even with 700+ at times, it's hard to find a group as certain classes. I dont like boxing for the most part, especially on pvp servers, but it is 1 way to solve this common issue when population suffers. Does it solve more problems than it creates? I'm not so sure.

If XP isn't as extreme as P99.. there could be a chance for Red99. That would be the only saving grace.

It will force people to group for quicker experience. It will also force people to group who are not solo classes. When/if Red99 comes out, I believe the hype is enough that there will be a large draw and the population will be able to provide groups for new players. A slower exp rate (as mentioned before me in this thread) will induce a sense of 'achievement' and also promote anti-shady behavior. If it took you a year to get to 50 (it took me two days short of a year to get 50 on Shrubwise) you're going to second guess loading up hax and losing all your hard work. P.S. If you never found a buddy for your cleric on Red69, I've got a low level SK who would play with you.

2 boxing won't be happening on project1999 blue/red.
These same arguments were made for the PVE server. :P Don't start a server with boxing and it won't be missed. Placate to an individual's frailty, and it will never end. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

edit: can anyone confirm or deny if a players exp penalty affects an entire group still? Or was that ever changed? I believe as it stands right now it is multiplied to the entire group. By Race: Troll -20% Iksar -20% Ogre -15% Barbarian -5% Halfling +5% By Class: Paladin / Shadowknight / Ranger / Bard -40% Monk -20% Wizard / Magician / Enchanter / Necromancer -10% Rogue +9% Warrior +10%

Experience gained is divided into parts based on the amount of experience you have. Look at it this way: Group of 4 all with 100,000xp (note: I didnt tell you their level) Kill a mob worth: 1000xp They all get 250xp. The uneven split comes in, because people group with people around their level, a bard at level 20 has 50% more xp than a warrior at 20 (ignoring race to keep the math simple). Warrior XP: 100,000 = level 20 Bard XP: 150,000 = level 20 When the 1000 xp is split between them, the bard gets more, because his share is calculated based on 150,000 xp. Make sense?
