I thought that as well, but when you search SSF vids, none of them turn in the book, so I'm doing the same, lol...I follow 2-3 others out there. Ogreguy on YouTube does SSF characters. He just lost a 18 Ogre Warrior.

He implemented a new idea where he can hand down his gear to a new level 1, which is kinda cool. It's basically like making EQP99 a Roguelike game, which I love. I am sticking to a pure permadeath run on this guy though. No handing stuff down.

Edit: I was also worried a Red toon might gank me when afk...that's the main reason I didn't turn my book in. You know how people are, there's always someone out there to ruin your experience. If turning the book in didn't turn you PVP I would have done it.

yeah i notice other people run a theme of playing solo which i think is limiting, i think a group of hardcores farming guk or something with high risk would be exciting

One thing I wish I could do with solo self found is do all tradeskills. Is it really gamebreaking to allow all classes full access to tradeskills without reliance on another class to complete.

Shamans can only alchemy
Rogues can only poison make
Gnomes can only tinker
Enchanters can only enchant metals (jewelry)

So there are some limits

It's nice to see old school players still playing! i have a 33 Barb War with full crafted. I haven't played in years on Green. May have to jump back on one of these days.

I’m still alive! Just hit level 10. It’s going slow because me and my wife have a newborn baby. He turns 3 weeks tomorrow, and is doing amazing. I can play p99 fine but when it comes to recording it kinda sucks having to take sudden breaks so much. He’s actually sleeping for a good 3 hours for the most part between feedings. I normally only do an hour or so recording.

Anyways I’m still in misty thicket turning in runny eye warbeads and orc belts for bonus coin and exp. I think I have 25 plat saved so far and full leather and a bastard sword (cost like 13 plat).

I’ve seen many deaths go down around me but haven’t even came close to dying yet other than at level 2. Been playing it super smart and safe. My plan is to keep building my plat up. Anyways once I edit the vids I’ll link it.

I suspect the issue for banded is how it takes 100+pp to raise skill and brute force a set.

A SSF character started early on on the server can at least enchant silver with giant fire beetle eyes (obviously grind skills on unenchanted).

Sure, sure... I'm just coming at it from the point of view of the value of AC saving your life while soloing. Working on a budget makes sense too. I think I just misread it earlier. I was reading it as leather being the goal, not where we were atm. Next step banded then? Or just going to grind away at ringmail / bronze / crafted?

P.S. Congrats on the happy, healthy addition to the family. Just remember, sleepy at the keyboard is dangerous for your hardcore toon. Best of luck! (can't tell you how many toons I've lost to autorun while passed out)
