Most of the molecules in plastic are carbon and hydrogen. A solar cooker to turn it into charcoal plus an algae farm. Gg. Same issues with cellulose rly. They just want to skip or reduce the energy intensive step by using enzymes and bacteria.
Ppl are generally stupid butt nature has this all figured out and would eventually get to it. Plastic wouldn't be so bad if we immediately broke it down into something more digestive. The problem with the forever chemicals is sunlight and microbes alone aren't really efficient enough. At Normal sub oven temps... so it persists in larger chunks that accumulate or are passed undigested back into larger organisms or build up in the environment. We certainly haven't reached critical mass there. We will however. Eventually.
We will change ecosystems tho once they figure it out. I'm more worried about the human braincells in a dish being used to run machines tho. Or processes. Or being manipulated into "art".
