I believe some professions inherently tend to lean one way or the other due to the nature of said profession and the temperament of the folks it'll attract. Scientific fields, education, etc have a tendency to veer left because those fields are all about expanding horizons and pushing boundries. Fields like accounting, civil engineering, and such have a tendency to veer conservative because there's a great emphasis on sticking with what's known to work and not rocking the boat or running costs up too much.

That's fine. In all cases integrity matters most, not political leaning. A liberal professor is not an issue. A professor of any political persuasion who demands his students follow his own idealogy or who pushes propaganda over truth, that is a problem.

It's what he claims to think, based on his previous statements, not what I think.

I've worked with department heads and professors from a variety of schools for past work, they vary, as do most groups of people.

Good teachers can teach a subject without coloring it too much with their own beliefs. I think most of us could summon examples of both good and bad teachers.

Same. It's not a bunch of clones. That being said I do think some (most) professions have a tendency to veer one way or the other due to who'll be attracted to a given type of field. There's a definitely a left-lean in education, but that doesn't bug me in and of itself. Yeah, always have to guard against extremism, but that's just as true of the other side as well since that side's fundies would gladly teach the bible as incontrovertable fact (and they try to get it legislated from time to time). Fundamentalism and zealotry is the enemy of liberty and free thought regardless what side it crops up on.

(edit) a "lean" doesn't need to mean it's 99-1 in the sort of binary black-and-white way internet discussions often gravitate towards. 60-40 is still a pronounced lean.

You've obviously never attended AERA

Why would right-leaning academics and scientists let themselves be cucked by some liberal admin assistant?

Oh, yeah, the cowardice that comes with hating the world around you and seething about it constantly
Haha, right, cause the party that *doesn't* want to murder babies and thinks more people being alive on earth rather than less is a good thing are the ones who hate the world?

You're going to have quite a big hill to climb if you want to argue that the right is more nihilistic and antinatalist than the left. It's not even remotely close.

Yeah, I can see based on the criteria why a given thing would attract certain people.

I cringe every time I see someone using the term 'activist judge' for reasons like this. I think a person who uses that term misunderstands the role of a judge in a society.

I'm not going to answer your questions or explain anything further until you:

1.) stop running away from conversations
2.) provide sources for your information

Sorry, buddy, but you're on DISCOURSE PROBATION

Folks that want to murder babies up until the moment of birth (even after birth according to blackface VA Governor) love the world or something

In today's case of, "Well look at the other guy," I highlight legions of protestant evangelicals who're all too happy to dismiss most/all of humanity as a bunch of no-good sinners who're doomed to eternal hellfire and torment. That's not exactly love for their fellow man, either.

I think the more curious thing, looking at it from a detached view, is that each "side" today somehow thinks the other's zealots are in ascension. Usually one or the other is clearly gaining ascendancy but in the current day each side seems to think there's an emergency as the other side's barbarians pound at the gates. I think some other posters who call that a function of modern media 24/7 scaremongering tactics might have the right idea.
